Refund & Cancellation Policy

This policy applies to the paid monthly subscription for the Tlhakiso Stokvel software service, provided by Hailio (Pty) Ltd (Reg 2025/961519/07), trading as Tlhakiso (“we”, “us”). It explains what you are paying for, how to cancel, and when refunds apply.

1. What you are paying for

The subscription is a fee for access to our software — a record-keeping, reconciliation and transparency tool for stokvels and savings groups. It is not a payment for, or a deposit of, any member’s savings. Tlhakiso is non-custodial: we never receive, hold, pool, invest or pay out a group’s money — those funds always remain in the group’s own bank account. The only amount we charge, and the only amount processed through our payment provider, is the software subscription fee described below.

2. Price

The subscription is R250 per month per group, billed monthly. All features (including receipts and the audit trail) are included — there are no add-ons or additional tiers.

3. Free trial

Every new group receives a 14-day free trial with full access before any payment is taken. This lets you evaluate the service in full before you are charged. If you do not subscribe, you are never billed.

4. Recurring billing

The subscription is a continuous monthly subscription. Your card is securely billed R250 each month by our payment provider, Paystack, until you cancel. You enter your card details once; no re-entry is needed each month.

5. How to cancel

The group’s chairperson can cancel at any time, directly in the app, using the “Cancel subscription” link in the subscription panel. Cancellation is immediate and self-service:

  • Billing stops immediately — no further monthly charges are made.
  • Your group keeps full access until the end of the month you have already paid for.
  • After that date, recording is locked until you subscribe again. Viewing your existing records remains free at all times.

6. Refunds

  • Current month: because a 14-day free trial lets you evaluate the service in full before paying, the month you are currently in is not pro-rated or refunded on cancellation. You retain access for the remainder of that paid month.
  • Billing errors: if you were charged in error — for example a duplicate charge, a charge after you cancelled, or a charge caused by a technical fault — we will issue a full refund of the affected amount. Please contact us within 30 days of the charge.
  • Approved refunds are processed back to the original card through Paystack, normally within 5–10 business days.

7. Failed renewals

If a monthly renewal cannot be collected (for example, an expired or declined card), recording access may pause until payment succeeds. There is no penalty or late fee — you can update your card and subscribe again at any time, and your records are never deleted for non-payment.

8. How to request a refund or get help

Email from the account’s email address, with the group name and the date of the charge. We aim to respond within 2 business days.
